On Tuesday, Dec 1st, 4 pm ET, we will be joined by Patrick Finnegan, who was recently appointed to a 5-year term on the International Accounting Standards Board.

Pat is a former Director of the Financial Reporting Policy Group at CFA Institute Centre for Financial Market Integrity, where he led a team responsible for providing user input into the standard-setting activities of the IASB, FASB and key regulatory bodies. He has also co-ordinated the work of the CFA Institute’s Corporate Disclosure Policy Council, which reviews and comments on financial reporting policy initiatives around the world. Before joining the CFA Institute in 2008, he was a partner at Deloitte and later a managing director at Moody’s.

Pat was appointed this summer along with Patricia McConnell who, like Pat, was also a leading U.S. analyst prior to her appointment to the IASB. The appointment of “the Pats” reflects a larger effort to provide the Board with more of a user orientation. See the original press release here.

Given Mr. Finnegan’s extensive background and experience, I look forward to hearing his perspective on the FASB and IASB’s joint projects, the SEC Roadmap, and other current topics in financial reporting and standard setting.

I hope you will join us on Tuesday to hear Pat’s thoughts, and remember that you can attend Round Table Discussions in Second Life (instructions here) or on the web at our LIVE page.
