On Saturday January 23, I will be moderating a panel discussion entitled, “Practice-Relevant Researchable Accounting Issues: Practitioners’ Views.”  The panelists are John Hepp, Partner with Grant Thornton, Bob Laux, Senior Director of Financial Accounting and Reporting at Microsoft Corporation, and Scott Taub, managing director of Financial Reporting Advisors and former Deputy Chief Accountant of the SEC.

Have you found yourself (as I often do) wishing you could talk to a knowledgeable practitioner about their take on a research question that you’re pursuing?  Do you want to hear an expert panel share their views about current, relevant business issues that need answers?

If so, come by session 15, Saturday afternoon at 2:00, January 23.  I plan to leave lots of time for the audience to interact with the panelists, so bring your questions to ask of the panel.  Should be a very interesting and informative session.

Finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t also mention two other panels of relevance to FASRI: Friday at 2:00, Jeffrey Hales, Tom Linsmeier, and Bob Lipe are panelists at a session moderated by Christine Botosan titled, “Informing Standard Setting Through Research,” and at 3:30, Bob Herz is on the dais, with Scott Taub as moderator: “A Q&A with FASB Chairman Robert Herz.”

These should all be fascinating sessions chock full of research ideas.
